Are you ready for the end of the cycle?

As we're approaching the final phase of the 2022-2024 cycle, it's crucial to ensure your CPD requirements are on track. Take proactive steps now to avoid last-minute panic. Explore our diverse range of CPD content tailored to your needs, helping you stay ahead and fulfil your professional development goals.

CPDpoints.com is a complete online training resource featuring over 150 courses covering all CPD requirements for GOC registrants including interactive and peer review points.

We've compiled some useful information about the key CPD requirements for this cycle and how you can meet these using CPDpoints.com.

CPD REQUIREMENTS

Domains

Domains refer to the different areas of practice that you need to cover in each three-year CPD cycle. All registrants must complete at least one CPD activity in each of the four core domains - Professionalism, Communication, Clinical practice, Leadership & accountability. Registrants with an AS, SP or IP speciality or contact lens optician specialty will also need to complete at least one CPD activity in the fifth specialty domain.

On CPDpoints.com you can search for CPD by keyword or domain. We have CPD covering both the core and specialty domains.

Provider-led CPD

CPDpoint.com is a GOC-approved provider, all of the CPD available on our website count towards your provider-led CPD requirement. You will receive a CPD certificate with the details needed to upload your points after completion.

Interactive points

Interactive CPD is one of the central requirements of the GOC's new CPD scheme. Interactive CPD must include an opportunity to talk to peers, to discuss the subject matter and to clarify any areas of misunderstanding. All our face-to-face events, webinars and online peer review courses include a Q&A session and receive interactive points by default. But did you know that many of the distance learning courses on CPDpoints.com are also worth interactive points? Just look out for the interactive symbol in the list of CPD. For all interactive distance learning you can choose to accept either a non-interactive (general) point or to carry out a discussion with a peer to get interactive CPD points. Check out this blog post for more information on the interactive CPD process on CPDpoints.com.

You can also join one of our CPD events to gain interactive points.

Peer review

All GOC registrants must participate in at least one peer review per cycle. Both optometrists and dispensing opticians count as peers of each other for the peer review exercise. If you hold a specialty registration you must undertake at least one peer review with peers with the same specialty.

CPDpoints.com subscribers can access our self-service peer review packs and regular online peer review sessions to tick off their peer review requirements.

Deadline

Remember, you must complete your CPD requirements before midnight on 31 December 2024.

For more information on the GOC CPD scheme visit the GOC website. We have shared some specific guidance below:

Our next blog will focus on the requirements of your reflective exercise that will be available to submit in your MyGOC account from July 2024.
